The Tempranillo vine, planted in 1977, has taken the characteristics from its environment, which confers on grapes typical colors and aromas from an aged vine. The different textures soils give complexity of aromas and flavors to our grapes. Besides Tempranillo we have other grape varieties as merlot, cabernet souvignon, petit verdot, airén, macabeo and verdejo. The care of the vine determines the grape quality; that’s why we insist on getting the best quality grapes with a hard work and our effort. We produce our grapes according to a long family tradition, always respecting the natural characteristics and cycles of the vine, to obtain a good quality product. Because speaking about Mateos de la Higuera family is a synonym of quality and respect to the nature. Also the vine fertilizer is natural; we use organic fertilizers witch avoid the enviroonment pollution. The harvest is done just in the moment the agriculturist and the wine maker, after having done thorough analyses, consider the best for the grape ripeness and it is taken to the winery, after having cut the clusters during the night when the grape is cold, to avoid contamination and early fermentation.
Once the selected grapes are in the winery, its stems are removed ant they are taken into stainless steel deposits with controlled temperature by cold in order to guarantee a perfect fermentation. Finally, a harmonious rest in the barrels and in the bottles finishes our production process, which provides the wine with the color, the natural aromas and the flavors that only an old vine and our land can give.
